1. Abstract

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), as one of the most important polymers in the cable manufacturing industry, has undergone significant transformations in recent decades. This article systematically examines the evolution of PVC granules in terms of formulation, production technologies, and industrial applications.

    1. Historical Development

In the early stages of PVC usage in cable manufacturing, several challenges were encountered, including limited thermal stability and insufficient flexibility. The gradual development of additive systems—such as thermal stabilizers and plasticizers—enabled overcoming these limitations.

The transition from lead-based stabilizers to calcium-zinc systems, and subsequently to organic-tin stabilizers, reflects the growing attention to environmental and health considerations.

    2. Current Status and Emerging Technologies

Currently, advanced formulations of PVC granules incorporate a wide range of specialized additives. Modern thermal stabilizers, such as organic tin compounds and calcium-zinc/aryl hybrids, provide optimal thermal stability during the production process.

PVC-graphene nanocomposites represent a significant achievement in enhancing dielectric properties. Studies show that adding 0.5 to 1.5 wt% of graphene nanoparticles can increase dielectric strength by up to 40%.

    3. Future Outlook

Ongoing research focuses on developing environmentally friendly compounds. Chemical recycling of PVC and the use of bio-based plasticizers are among the active research areas.

Moreover, the integration of digital technologies in process monitoring and quality control enables the production of consistent and reliable products.

    4. Economic and Market Considerations

According to market analyses, the PVC cable market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 7.2% during the 2024–2030 period. This growth is primarily driven by the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure and communication networks.

    5. Conclusion

PVC granules will continue to play a vital role in the cable manufacturing industry. The integration of nanotechnologies, development of eco-friendly additives, and optimization of production processes represent the main pathways for research and development in this field.
